Sumina Khadka is making waves with her farming skills. Originally from Ramechaap, Sumina brought her love for farming to Bhaktapur and turned a small piece of land into a thriving farm. Her journey is about more than just growing vegetables; it's about creating a sense of community and belonging in the bustling city.

Sumina completed her education up to the 12th grade. She then began a new chapter in her life by getting married and starting a family. With two young children to care for, her days were filled with household chores and nurturing her family. Struggling to find employment in the city, Sumina decided to tap into her rural roots and explore the world of farming. Around three years ago, Sumina and her husband decided to try farming. They had heard that farming could provide a stable income and a sense of independence. With no prior experience but a lot of enthusiasm, they took the plunge into the world of agriculture. One of the key aspects of Sumina's farming venture is her cows. They are not just animals to her; they are part of her family. Every day, she tends to their needs with care and affection, milking them and ensuring they are well-fed and healthy. For Sumina, the cows are not just a source of milk; they are an integral part of her farming practice. However, Sumina's journey has not been without its challenges. Farming is hard work, and there are many obstacles along the way. The weather, in particular, can be unpredictable, with heavy rains or droughts affecting the crops. But Sumina doesn't let these challenges stops her. Instead, she faces them head-on, finding solutions and adapting to the changing circumstances. Despite the challenges, Sumina finds joy in her work. She says, there is something deeply satisfying about watching seeds grow into healthy crops and knowing that she played a part in it. Farming has given her a sense of purpose and pride, knowing that she is contributing to her family's well-being and the community's food security
