International colloquium on Climate Change and Health Commences in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal - Minister of Health, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, emphasize the urgent global need for action on climate change and health during the inaugural session of the 64th ITM Colloquium at Kathmandu Marriot Hotel. Nepal, acknowledging its vulnerability to climate impacts, commits to achieving net-zero emissions by 2045 and strengthening climate-resilient health systems. Co-hosted by ITM Belgium and the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC), the ongoing ITM Colloquium explores the "Global Landscape of Disease Burden in the Context of Climate Change." The event aims to uncover strategies for strengthening resilience in vulnerable communities. Minister Basnet, serving as the Chief Guest, inaugurated the program, offering invaluable insights and esteemed guidance to enrich discussions. The three-day colloquium, a collaborative effort between ITM Belgium and NHRC, concludes on 23rd November.
