Indian Laborers Arrive in Bhaktapur for Brick-Molding Work

Bhaktapur — Indian laborers have started arriving in Nepal’s brick factories to mold bricks. Workers from various parts of India have reached several brick kilns in Bhaktapur for brick-molding work.

Biraj Begam, who arrived with her family at a brick kiln in Changunarayan, Bhaktapur, said they came from India to Nepal specifically for brick-molding work. She shared that it took them a 24-hour bus journey to reach Nepal from India. According to her, the number of families coming from different Indian cities for brick-molding work has increased significantly.

The brick-molding season has now begun. After the molded bricks start drying, they are taken to the chimney and fired. Only then does brick production complete. The brick-molding season runs for about six months each year.
