Everest Climber Kalpana Honored with Unsung Heroes Award

Mount Everest climber Kalpana Maharjan has been honored with the Unsung Heroes Award presented annually by Zonta Club Kathmandu on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Maharjan, who has achieved a world record by successfully climbing Mount Everest from both sides, has gained international recognition as a distinguished mountaineer. Beyond her mountaineering achievements, she has also been actively engaged in social campaigns through education, particularly working against child marriage and human trafficking in Nepal.
In recognition of her contributions, Maharjan received the Unsung Heroes Award this year from Zonta Club Kathmandu. Earlier, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, she was also honored at the Matrishakti Conference organized by Samarpan Mithila in Darbhanga, located in Bihar, India.
Her achievements in mountaineering and her dedication to social causes have made her an inspiring figure and a source of pride for Nepal.
