How Family Support and a Child’s Interests Can Make Learning Enjoyable
At just seven years old, Pranab Bala is demonstrating how a child’s natural curiosity, combined with proper guidance and family support, can develop into a remarkable learning journey.
Meet Pranab Bala
Pranab Bala is a seven-year-old student at Khwopring English Academy, living in Bhramayeni-9, Bhaktapur, Nepal. He is the son of Mr. Ramesh Bala and Mrs. Beena Shrestha and the younger brother of Purnima Bala.
Like many children today, Pranab has a strong interest in mobile phones. His father initially introduced him to educational content such as Alphablocks, Numberblocks, mathematical games, and word games. Gradually, he guided Pranab towards world geography, country names, national flags, and capital cities.
Interestingly, Pranab developed a strong interest in these subjects. Learning about the world became an enjoyable activity for him rather than a task he had to complete.
A Remarkable Interest in World Geography
Today, Pranab can identify countries by their geographical boundaries, correctly recognize their national flags, and write the names of all 195 countries continent-wise from memory. He can also identify most of the world’s capital cities with correct spelling and continues to refine his knowledge through practice.
His achievement reflects his enthusiasm for learning, impressive recall, and dedication to a subject that genuinely interests him.
A Sister Who Inspires
Pranab’s learning journey is not limited to geography. His elder sister, Purnima Bala, has also played a supportive role in his creative development.
When Purnima practised sketching, Pranab would often follow her and observe what she was doing. Recognizing his interest, Purnima encouraged him, guided him in drawing, and helped him practise.
This experience highlights another important lesson: children can learn not only from their parents and teachers but also from their brothers and sisters. A supportive family environment can encourage children to explore new interests, develop skills, and learn with confidence.
A Message for Every Parent
Today, many children spend a considerable amount of time on mobile phones. Instead of allowing screen time to become only a source of entertainment, parents can guide children towards educational and creative content that matches their interests.
Every child is different. Some enjoy numbers, some love drawing, some are fascinated by animals, and others are curious about the world. When parents recognize these interests and provide suitable opportunities, learning can become more natural, enjoyable, and meaningful.
Pranab’s story reminds us that the goal is not simply to stop children from using mobile phones, but to help them use technology wisely and in balance with other activities.
Outdoor play, reading, drawing, family interaction, and physical activities are equally important for children’s overall development.
Every Child Has a Talent Waiting to Grow
Pranab Bala’s journey shows how a father and mother’s guidance, a sister’s encouragement, and a child’s own curiosity can work together to create a positive learning experience.
His story is not just about memorizing country names, flags, boundaries, and capital cities. It is also about recognizing a child’s interests and helping those interests grow through encouragement, practice, and patience.
We warmly invite interested individuals, schools, media professionals, and organizations to support Pranab in sharing his talent and inspiring other children.
Let us guide children towards what they love, encourage them to explore what fascinates them, and help them turn their curiosity into knowledge and skills.
Every child has unique potential, and the right support can help that potential shine.
